About

First created in 2020 by Onye Anuna, Sub-Saharan Stories is an ongoing project collecting traditional stories and folktales from Sub-Saharan Africa. Sub-Saharan Stories is a humanist project in the guise of a database; a conservation project with aims to rehabilitate the environment for emboldening the storytelling of myths and folktales of times gone by.

It's important to remember the foundations of our cultures, understand the attitudes that shaped our perspectives, and take inspiration to be the primary actors in the formation of our futures. By building on the substantial works of those who came before us, Sub-Saharan Stories aims to provide a level of preservation for future generations by improving the accessibility and awareness of these increasingly rare stories.
